Alex Albon’s Abu Dhabi drive Provided ‘Timely Ammunition’ to Those Calling for Red Bull Stay: Brundle

Alex Albon had a year filled with mixed emotions and performances. After securing his maiden F1 podium in F1 at Mugello, he tried to improve. However, adjusting to the Red Bull car was just not his cup of tea. With questions rising about his seat next season, he had to buckle up.

Red Bull had an impressive back up in the face of Checo and Hulkenberg to replace Albon. However, they did not want to be dismissive about the Thai racer. The team knew he had potential, and they gave him as many chances as they could. It was upon him now what he would make of it.

The Middle eastern triple header came as a boon to Albon. The time when the Albon-Checo switch was in its highest possibility, Albon delivered a splendid couple of weekends. His podium at Bahrain and P4 at Abu Dhabi set a solid case for his future at Red Bull.

Abu Dhabi was a blessing for the entire Red Bull team altogether. However, Albon’s threatening drive behind Lewis Hamilton earned praise from the entire paddock. His efforts are being praised by pundits everywhere as Martin Brundle applauds his stint last Sunday.

Alex Albon had arguably his strongest day all season from a team perspective, passing Lando Norris with a nice move and then staying well within the pit stop window of both Mercedes. For those in the team keen to retain Albon next season, it provided timely ammunition, remarked Brundle.

Alex Albon troubled Mercedes at Abu Dhabi

Alex Albon was impressed with his Abu Dhabi stint. He highlighted that he has no clue whether it will be enough for him to stay back, but he did all that he could. Red Bull have always been cautious about their filtration process for drivers. Well, they will definitely consider everything before taking a decision.

Drawing back our attention to Alex’s performance at Abu Dhabi, it was marvellous. Usually it is Max that chases Lewis around the track, pressing him hard at the turns. Well, as the Dutchman was leading the race, his teammate gave a tough time to the Mercedes champ.

Albon was the fastest car on track in the final quarter of the race and closed to within a second and a half of Hamilton, and four seconds of Bottas who finished second,” stated Brundle.

Well, the question that might bother Red Bull now is will Albon be able to carry this momentum to the next season. Alex has not really promised consistency with his performance, but his form has improved. Checo sits back as a solid replacement to Albon but is Red Bull willing to take the gamble. We must be patient for these answers.
