How Did Yuki Tsunoda Fare in the 2020 F2 Championship?

Yuki Tsunoda, the motorist racing under the Japanese flag will step foot in F1 from the 2021 season. He will race behind the wheels of Alpha Tauri, the sister team of Red Bull. Subsequently, he has a charming resume that assures a promising future in the F1 arena.

Tsunoda born on May 11, 2000, started his career in karting at the age of ten. The inception of his karting career was in 2010 with Junior Karting Championship. Further, in 2013, he hopped to the regional class and in 2014 he further moved ahead to the national class.

After graduating in 2016 from Suzuka Circuit Racing School, he became a member of the Honda Formula Dream Project. Following that, he also ran his maiden race in the Japanese Formula 4. It did not take long for him to create an enormous group of fans for him. Subsequently, in the realm of F4, he started claiming podium stands from his first race. He achieved the second stand in his maiden race and stood fourth in his second race. Further, with seven victories, he won the crown and resigned from the field in 2018.

After competing in the Red Bull Junior Team and in the Honda program, he signed a contract with Jenzer Motorsports. Further,  in 2019, he contested in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. With one triumph and three podium finishes, he claimed the ninth position. He also contested at the Euro formula Open Championship and ranked second in the first race. Further, he aced the second race.

Tsunoda joined FIA F2 Championship in 2020. Further, under the flag of Japan, he registered himself in Carlin. With his raging form of racing, he amasses three victories, four pole positions, and seven podium stands too. Further, in the 2020 season, he conquered the third title of the Championship.

His sense of the application of needful strategies and tactics on time while racing is mention-worthy. Further, the skills he acquires will help him lead forward in the motorsports world. His sense of speeding grabbed the attention of FIA and F1  successfully in the 2020 season. The 20- year-old racer after competing in 24 races attained two fastest laps in F2.

He has signed a contract with Alpha Tauri and jumped ship to the realm of F1. Following that, his contract will be active from the 2021 season. With his earlier experience and accomplishments, he is a significant choice for the team to get him set on the racing field.

Stepping up from F3 and F2, he bagged P9 in F3 and further triumphed three races in F2 with an addition of the podium stand in the season finale. Furthermore, he has several other accolades tucked under his belt.

He also bagged the Pirelli’s Driver of the year award for his tire strategies and knowing the use of it according to the tracks. In addition, he clinches on the Anthoine Hubert Award, for being the Best ‘Rookie of the Year’.

In a conference, Tsunoda conveyed, “My strong point is my way of attacking and I think the people who see me will be impressed by that. I will be a rookie in 2021, but for the first six months, I want to be even more aggressive and get as much out of it as possible. Then I’ll make mistakes and I can learn from them in the second half of the year”

The spectators and the F1 crew is eager to see him on tracks from the upcoming season. Further, most of them will wait to see him partnering Max Verstappen in the dominant Red Bull Racing team in F1 from his next contract deal.
