Countless reports have given different reasons for the stalemate of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ contract renewal. The reasons have ranged from money sought to the duration of the term. However, a team spokesperson allegedly clarified that it’s all untrue.
According to a report, there is no reason for ending the dominating partnership between Hamilton and Mercedes. The spokesperson is certain that the Briton and Valtteri Bottas will continue to drive for Mercedes next season.

“Any suggestion that Lewis won’t be with us this year is simply fake news. Plain and simple. There is no reason he and Valtteri won’t be driving our cars in 2021. You can consider it confirmed,” said the spokesperson as quoted by Formula1News.co.uk.

Ecclestone on Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes’ delayed announcement
All these conjectures on the negotiation saga are not without backing. Many team members, including Mercedes boss, Toto Wolff have talked about the delay in the contract. “The lawyers are working hard. Of course, we do not make their lives easy,” said Wolff.
Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula 1 CEO, also believes that the deal between Mercedes and Hamilton is far confirmed. He believes this is a strategy to gain more eyeballs on the team and the number 1 Formula 1 driver at the moment.

He said, “It is a paripe for people to talk about Hamilton and Mercedes throughout the winter.”
Mercedes had expressed earlier that they would like to confirm Hamilton’s contract by the end of 2020. The saga has now continued for another 4 weeks, and Wolff has clarified that an announcement is not imminent.
