FIA news

The 499P features a hybrid powertrain that combines centrally-located power unit with electric motor powering the front axle. The internal combustion engine has a maximum regulation-limited output to the wheels of 500kW and is derived from the road-going twin-turbo V6 family. The ICE utilises the architecture of the engine of the brand’s new 296 GT3-class racer.

The second ‘soul’ of the hybrid powertrain is the Energy Recovery System with a maximum power output of 200kW. The electric motor is equipped with a differential and is driven by a battery that is recharged during deceleration and braking.

The battery pack, with a nominal voltage of 900v, benefits from Ferrari’s extensive Formula 1 experience. The powertrain is coupled to a seven-speed sequential gearbox.

The design of the new Ferrari 499P was refined with the support of the Ferrari Styling Centre. The car’s technical and aerodynamic features have been enhanced to express the Italian automaker’s DNA, with subtle references to styling traits first introduced with the Ferrari Daytona SP3.

The Ferrari 499P programme will be operated Maranello technicians and engineers with the collaboration of the AF Corse the. The partnership traces back to the 2006 FIA GT Championship and the F430 GT2 that secured Teams’, Drivers’ and Constructors’ titles that year.

Most of Ferrari’s GT successes in recent years have been the result of the partnership between the two parties, including all the achievements in the FIA World Endurance Championship, since the series’ inception in 2012.

The 2023 499P driver line-up is set to be confirmed in due course.
