FIA Launches Volunteers and Officials Month 2025 to Celebrate Dedicated Individuals Powering Motor Sport

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has officially launched Volunteers and Officials Month 2025, declaring the month of October as a global celebration of the invaluable contribution volunteers and officials make to enable motor sport events around the world.
 
From marshals, stewards and race directors to fan engagement and event organisation, volunteers are the unsung heroes who dedicate their time at motor sport events from grassroots competitions to FIA World Championships. Volunteers and Officials Month is a tribute to their dedication, passion and commitment to the sport and builds upon FIA Volunteers Day and Weekend held in previous years.
 
Events and activities will take place during FIA championship events throughout the month of October as well as at national and regional level events organised by National Sporting Authorities (ASNs). With over 10 world championship events, 15 regional events and dozens of national level events across disciplines including Formula 1, Rally, Autocross, Cross Car, ecoRally, Karting and Truck Racing, October is set to showcase the wide range of competitions where volunteers and officials play a critical role in the organisation and smooth running of motor sport events.
 
Activities across the global FIA network will include volunteer awards to honour outstanding service and dedication, social media spotlights featuring volunteer stories and behind-the-scenes content, event activations at races and volunteer recruitment campaigns to inspire the next generation of volunteers to step forward.
 
As part of the FIA’s commitment to provide professional development opportunities across the motor sport community, FIA University offers comprehensive training, development and mentoring opportunities for volunteers and officials. 33,934 people have enrolled in FIA University modules, with users already completing on average over 100 minutes of learning this year through open-access modules covering key topics such as marshalling, safety, motor sport medicine, and the role of the chief safety officer. 
 
These resources not only help ensure consistent and high safety standards across motor sport events but also provide volunteers with meaningful opportunities to enhance their expertise, broaden their skillsets and contribute to the sport’s continued success.

Their dedication and expertise are essential to the success and safety of our sport.”

With more events and activities planned for Volunteers and Officials Month 2025 than ever before, October is set to be an inspiring celebration of the passion, dedication and contribution of volunteers across every level of motor sport.

FIA Partners With Siemens To Drive Innovation, Safety and Sustainability In Racing

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the global governing body for motor sport and the federation for mobility organisations worldwide, has named Siemens Digital Industries Software as its official digital twin sponsor in a new multi-year agreement that will help shape the future of motor sport.

The collaboration will see the FIA expand its use of Siemens’ Xcelerator software portfolio to drive innovation in race car design while reducing the environmental impact of developing and testing prototypes.

Siemens is the latest to join the FIA’s recently launched Global Partnership Programme, a network of leading organisations committed to advancing safety, sustainability and innovation across motor sport and mobility.

At the heart of the collaboration is the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, including the award-winning Designcenter NX software, which enables FIA engineers to create detailed digital models of race cars and simulate their performance in a virtual environment. The virtual-first approach plays a key role in shaping the technical regulations of single-seater categories, from Formula 1 to Formula 4.
 
By reducing the need for physical prototypes and wind tunnel testing, the FIA can lower its environmental impact and accelerate progress toward its net zero 2030 goal. Since 2022, the FIA has used Siemens’ software to generate more than 14,000 computer aided design CAD parts in over 10,000 computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
 
Beyond aerodynamics, the FIA will expand its use of Siemens’ Teamcenter® X for product lifecycle management and adopt further Simcenter® simulation tools, creating a fully integrated digital ecosystem to power future innovations across championships.
