The drivers’ lineup for the 2021 season for all teams has been all but decided now. But, there may still be a few developments to occur at Haas F1 before action resumes in March 2021.
Haas had originally declared their pairing for the new season, with Mick Schumacher partnering Nikita Mazepin. But following a controversial incident involving the latter, it might force the American outfit to rethink their lineup.
And adding intrigue to what may come ahead, the team’s reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi has now updated his bio on Twitter. Needless to say, this is a possible hint from the young Brazilian driver.
Haas could consider replacing Nikita Mazepin with Pietro Fittipaldi
Haas have contracted Fittipaldi, but merely as a reserve driver. But, he might now possibly have a genuine shot at an F1 seat at the team, partnering ‘Schumacher junior’ next year.
His Twitter bio now reads ‘Haas F1 driver’. Is it a sign then that an announcement regarding the second seat at the side may be forthcoming sooner than later?
The young Brazilian driver, who comes from a family with rich racing lineage, was excellent during his performances with Haas. Showing no signs of hesitation or discomfort, he relished driving an F1 car, having spent much of his career so far driving in the junior levels of racing.
Team boss Guenther Steiner recently had words of praise for Fittipaldi
Steiner had stated, “He did a good job. I mean he kept out of trouble. His pace going on in the race was getting better and better, I think he just needed to get it customised.”
Fittipaldi first tested the Haas F1 car in Sakhir, following a week after Grosjean’s Bahrain GP accident. In the Sakhir GP, he looked comfortable and kept a competitive race pace despite staying in the back of the field.
The race in Abu Dhabi also went well for him, and he proved he has what it takes to be in the sport. But only Haas can now decide whether he would be the right fit for them ahead of the new season.
