F1 makes Emilia Romagna GP schedule change to avoid Prince Philip funeral clash
The Duke of Edinburgh died at the age of 99 last Friday, with the British Royal funeral taking place at St George’s Chapel at Windsor on 3pm this Saturday.

F1 – Formula 1 and FIA statement on changes to Saturday schedule for Imola

The FIA and Formula 1 are today setting out the changes to the Saturday schedule for the Formula 1 Pirelli Gran Premio Del Made in Italy e Dell’Emila Romagna 2021 out of respect to the funeral service of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh that will take place on Saturday 17th April 2021.
As a mark of respect for the Royal funeral, Qualifying will be moved to avoid a clash with the service. This means Qualifying will take place between 14:00–15:00 CET. As a result FP3 will move to 11:00–12:00 CET in order to comply with the regulations that state Qualifying must be 120 minutes after FP3. On Friday FP2 will move to 14:30-15:30 CET and FP1 will move to 11:00-12:00 CET due to the rules requiring those sessions to be separated by at least two and a half hours and FP3 needing to start no less than nineteen hours after the end of FP2.
There will be a minute of silence ahead of Qualifying as an opportunity for people to show their respects.

ETRC: Misano season-opener postponed to October

Due to the current situation amid the COVID-19 pandemic across Europe, the FIA ETRC season-opener in Misano, Italy won’t go ahead on the scheduled date of May 22-23, 2021. The new date for the race in Misano has been set as October 16-17, 2021.
The race weekend in Italy will be the final race of the 2021 season, and all involved parties are hopeful to be able to welcome fans back to the track.
“After we had to cancel the 2020 event, we are very happy to host the European Truck Racing Championship again this year, as the final event of the 2021 season,” said Andrea Albani, Managing Director of Misano World Circuit.
“We want to express our gratitude to the promotors, the Italian Institutions, the Emilia-Romagna region, APT Emilia Romagna and Visit Romagna for their support. A special thanks to the Italian Federation ACI Sport, for their support and sharing the value of the event.”
The 2021 season will therefore kick off in Hungary on June 12-13 and will feature seven race weekends on some of Europe’s most challenging circuits.
