A new Sporting Organiser Working Group has been created and has met for the first time today, 12 June, during the FIA Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. This project was initiated by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem, who has previous personal experience of organising the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix during his time as President of The Emirates Motorsports Organization.
Following on from the recently announced strategic plan between the FIA and FOM, the aim of this group is to bring together National Sporting Authorities (ASNs) from around the world to explain the process and requirements for organising an FIA Formula One World Championship event. This framework will be rolled out across other FIA World Championships in due course.
The meeting facilitated knowledge-sharing between ASNs who already organise F1 races, with the overall goal being to create an ever-stronger network of organisations that deliver consistently at the highest level of motor sport, ensuring an improving experience for competitors and fans.
As the sole bodies granted the power by the FIA to control and regulate motor sport events in their countries, the ASNs are a vital piece of the significant network that comes together to make a Grand Prix happen. Through the establishment of this group and a dedicated support network within the FIA, our member-driven organisation is in a strong position to continue the trajectory of growth at the pinnacle of motor sport for years to come.
