The Meaningful Value & Message Behind Fernando Alonso’s Tattoo

Fernando Alonso also has some artwork on his skin, much like the other drivers on the grid. However, the two-time world champion has more meaning behind it than what meets the eye.

The Spaniard’s tattoo gets its inspiration from Hagakure, an 18th-century spiritual guide for the warrior.

Hagakure can be defined as a practical and spiritual guide for a warrior inspired by the collection of commentaries by Yamamoto Tsunemoto.

It consists of the symbols of parents, mother, and father.

Fernando Alonso returning to the grid

Driving alongside Esteban Ocon, the two-time world champion will soon return to the grid with Alpine, Renault’s new rebranded team, for the upcoming 2021 season.

This won’t be his first time driving with them. Alonso began his F1 journey with the team and won the 2005 and 2006 driver’s championship. After being let go by Mclaren during the 2008 season, he joined Renault again; however, he finished fifth with 61 points in the driver’s championship.

On the road to recovery

Alonso recently had a bike accident in Switzerland and was rushed to the hospital. He was kept there for further observation and found to have a broken jaw, for which he underwent corrective surgery.

This was bad news for the French team, as the opening race was just six weeks away and fans were concerned his health, wondering if he would be able to recover in time for the season to start. However, the team put out a statement saying that he is recovering and would be available for the race in Bahrain.
